Summer Youth Programs

SOAR Thru Summer

SOAR thru Summer offers daily activities that ensure fun, safe, and enriching days! Participants enjoy fun group activities, skills-based learning, and field trips in the community.

  • Education: Communication, Household Chores, Cooking, Community Navigation, Financial Literacy, Personal/Public Safety!
  • Field Trips: Museums, Parks, Art Studios, Nature Preserves, Arcades, Mini Golf, Bowling!
  • Fun: Games, Snacks, Crafts, Water Days, Reading, Sports, Messy Days, and more Shenanigans with friends!

Skills gained through SOAR Thru Summer participation include: Communication, Gross Motor Skills, Teamwork, Community Navigation, Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Fine Motor Skills, Conflict Resolution, Self-Confidence, Sportsmanship, Following Directions, Physical Fitness, Reading/Comprehension, Social Appropriateness, Budgeting, Time Management, and Emotional Regulation.

2025 Details

  • Youth with developmental disabilities* entering sixth grade through eighteenth birthday
  • Dates coming soon!

*Youth who apply for SOAR thru Summer should be semi-independent and demonstrate appropriate behaviors to maintain a safe group setting. Aggressive behaviors that challenge the safety of other youth will be reevaluated.

Application Process

SOAR thru Summer utilizes a best-fit application process rather than first come first serve basis. Any youth interested should complete the steps below and will be notified via mail in mid-April.

Deadline April 8th

Step 1: Complete the Online Application (available early 2025)

Step 2: Indicate what weeks youth would like to attend.

Step 3: Watch for a letter in April for confirmation on which weeks your child has been selected to attend!

Please Note: Even if your child is not selected for every week indicated in your application, fret not! If there is an opening as the summer progresses due to increased capacity or cancellation, you may be contacted and offered any weeks that are not full!

 

CLTS and other third party payee’s accepted!

Sign up and payment by week.  Late Pickups will be charged $15 per every 15 minutes late starting 1 minute after 6pm. We reserve the right to bill third party funders.

*Financial assistance is available for private payers who qualify. Applications are available by contacting Lisa McCallister.

Evolve Transition Days

Evolve Transition Days offer nine weeks of day service programming for transition-age youth (18-23) with differing abilities. Young adults spend the majority of the week in the community, participating in fun educational and philanthropic activities that encourage them to build real-world skills and explore new or current areas of interest with friends!

  • Education: Communication, Job Shadowing, Cooking, Public Transportation, Financial Literacy, Scheduling/Time Management!
  • Community Engagement: Museums, Restaurants, Parks, Art Studios, Nature Preserves, Coffee Shops!
  • Philanthropy: Community Gardens, Animal Shelters, Thrift Stores!

Skills gained through Evolve participation include: Communication, Gross Motor Skills, Teamwork, Community Navigation, Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Fine Motor Skills, Conflict Resolution, Self-Confidence, Sportsmanship, Following Directions, Physical Fitness, Reading/Comprehension, Social Appropriateness, Budgeting, Time Management, Emotional Regulation, and career specific skills based on Job Shadowing/Volunteer experiences.
