During summer, the Neenah Parks & Recreations Department will be offering a “Water Safety/Swim Lesson Program for Children on the Autism Spectrum.” This will be available for children on the Autism Spectrum between the ages of 4-14. With parents participating in the program as well, it is meant to introduce children to water and teaches them to swim in deep water. Children will also learn important life-saving skills in water, without emphasis put on advanced swimming techniques. These lessons will be private (one instructor, one parent/guardian, one child). Parents or guardians must be in the pool with the child, and must be able to swim. Children will also not be able to use flotation devices. These lessons will be on Saturday Mornings from 11:00-11:45 a.m. in two sessions (6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/18 and 7/25, 8/1, 8/8, 8/15). The fees are $100 for City of Neenah Residents and $110 for Non-Residents. Contact the Neenah Parks Department at 920.886.6060 or [email protected] for more information.
